President Donald Trump has warned that any individual or country purchasing oil or petrochemical products from Iran will be barred from doing business with the United States.

The announcement comes just days before Washington and Tehran are set to resume sensitive nuclear negotiations.

Any country or person who buys ANY AMOUNT of OIL or PETROCHEMICALS from Iran will be subject to, immediately, secondary sanctions,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Thursday.

They will not be allowed to do business with the United States of America in any way, shape, or form,” he added.

Since returning to the White House, Trump has reinstated a policy of “maximum pressure” on the Middle Eastern nation, aiming to choke off Iran’s oil exports—its primary source of revenue—as a member of OPEC.

The Trump administration is pushing to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program, which U.S. officials suspect is being used to develop an atomic bomb.
