Today, more and more women are daring to break the myth of motherhood. A time in life that's not always wonderful...

It can appear one or two months after giving birth; postpartum depression is a condition that is still too often overlooked. Not to be confused with the Baby Blues, characterized by a temporary drop in morale due to the drop in hormones, postpartum depression can wreak havoc for months or even years.

Negative emotions, shame, guilt, and suicidal or even infanticidal thoughts, also called impulse phobias, are symptoms of the illness and can, in their most severe form, lead to suicide, "the leading cause of maternal mortality" according to the CNGOF in France, or the National College of French Gynecologists and Obstetricians.

Throwing away their baby, smothering it, abandoning it... when they suffer from severe depression, women are plagued by impulse phobias, obsessive thoughts and fears that never leave them.

A poignant testimony

For TF1info, a 23-year-old young mother from the Oise region of France recounts her despair... While she sincerely thought she was entering a bubble of happiness, all pink and sparkling, hell began right from the start of her pregnancy, with sudden urges to press on her stomach and kill her baby. Later, she even became afraid "of throwing him out the window." What saved her? Psychological work first, sharing her feelings, but also, and above all, a life-saving liberation of talking about it. Because she is not an isolated case!
