Ukraine needs military help from the West to push back Moscow. Quick peace is not in sight at the moment, said German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius during a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group.

"Peace in Ukraine seems out of reach in the immediate future," said Boris Pistorius

Mr Pistorius announced his intention to ensure that Ukraine receives joint military support from the West. "We will ensure that Ukraine continues to benefit from our joint military support," added the Minister.

Kaja Kallas, the EU foreign policy chief, stated that European countries had already allocated more than €23 billion in military aid to Ukraine this year, which is more than last year.

Germany has decided to increase its military aid to Ukraine by €3 billion this year, bringing the total amount to €7 billion.

The total amount of Berlin’s official support to Ukraine has already exceeded €43 billion, of which €15 billion has been allocated for military needs.
