Paris Saint-Germain defeated Tottenham on penalties this Wednesday in Udine to win the UEFA Super Cup for the first time in the club’s history.
Tottenham took a two-goal lead thanks to strikes from Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, but Luis Henrique’s side fought back late in the game with goals from Lee Kang-in and Gonçalo Ramos in stoppage time to level the score.
The match went to a penalty shootout, where PSG prevailed, converting four spot-kicks to Tottenham’s three.
The club kicks off the new season with a trophy, just weeks after losing the FIFA Club World Cup final to Chelsea in the United States.
PSG will face Nantes in the opening day of Ligue 1 this Sunday at La Beaujoire.
