Oscar Piastri claimed victory in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix this weekend in Jeddah after delivering a flawless performance, finishing ahead of Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc.
Starting from second on the grid alongside Verstappen, the McLaren driver was quicker off the line and moved alongside the Red Bull driver, who had to cut the first corner to maintain the lead.
However, race stewards handed Verstappen a five-second penalty, which ultimately cost him the win, for gaining an advantage by not following the racing line.
Piastri made his only pit stop two laps earlier than Verstappen and took the lead of the race, which he never relinquished.
His teammate Lando Norris made an impressive recovery, finishing fourth after adopting a completely different strategy that saw him with soft tires towards the end of the race.
With this second consecutive win after Bahrain, the Australian driver now leads the driver standings with 99 points, 10 more than his teammate Norris and 12 ahead of Verstappen.
George Russell, for Mercedes, finished fifth ahead of his teammate Kimi Antonelli, with Lewis Hamilton following for Ferrari. The two Williams drivers, Carlos Sainz Jr and Alex Albon, finished eighth and ninth, respectively, while the final point went to Isack Hadjar for Racing Bulls.
