Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Sunday to pressure Russia to end the attacks and conflict in Ukraine, after a new wave of massive bombardments left at least 12 dead in the country.

"Without very strong pressure on the Russian leaders, this brutality cannot be stopped. Sanctions will certainly be helpful," said Mr Zelensky on social media, urging the United States, European countries, and "all those who seek peace" to show "determination" to get Russian President Vladimir Putin to "end the war".

Ukraine suffered another massive air attack early Sunday morning, leaving at least 12 dead, while in Moscow, Ukrainian drones caused the temporary closure of airports, just hours before the latest prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine.

Ukrainian emergency services described a "night of terror in the Kyiv region" on Sunday in a message on Telegram. The massive night attack left four dead and 16 injured, including three children, in the region.
The Ukrainian Air Force said Sunday that it had shot down 45 missiles and 266 Russian drones during this new wave of night-time bombardments that affected "most of the country’s regions".
