Baffled Kim Jong-un has already lost brand new warship during official launch

New satellite images have revealed the extent of the damage sustained by North Korea’s newest warship during its official launch this week.

The 5,000-ton vessel appears to have tipped over while being lowered into the sea, causing visible damage to its lower hull—all under the watchful eyes of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Following the launch of the Cho Hyon destroyer in April, Pyongyang had aimed to continue showcasing its military advancements with the unveiling of a second next-generation warship.

North Korea has ramped up efforts to modernize its navy, while simultaneously expanding its nuclear weapons program.

According to state media outlet KNCA, the damage resulting from what they called an operational error was “not serious.”

However, the report also quoted Kim Jong-un harshly criticizing the incident: “Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made a stern assessment, saying that it was a serious accident and criminal act caused by sheer carelessness, irresponsibility, and unscientific empiricism which should never occur and could not be tolerated.”
