NATO's stern reminder to Putin

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte warned Russian President Vladimir Putin a few weeks ago about the potential NATO response in the event of aggression against Poland.

"If necessary, Poland will have NATO's support, including that of its closest ally, the United States. Our relations with the United States are very good and very stable," said Mark Rutte.

"The reaffirmation of NATO's commitment to defend Poland in any situation is crucial for us," emphasised Polish President Donald Tusk.

Mr Rutte confirmed that NATO was ready to defend its allies and added that any attack would be countered. "This must be very clear to Vladimir Putin and to anyone who wants to attack us," he said.
