NASA has recently reignited speculation about extraterrestrial life after what appears to be a "mushroom" was spotted in an image taken on Mars.

A photograph captured by the Curiosity rover has resurfaced, showing what some believe to be a fungus-like object emerging from the Martian soil.

The image, originally taken in September 2013, had been sitting in NASA’s archives until it was brought to light by ufologist Scott Waring, who claims it provides possible evidence of life on the Red Planet.

I'm not sure how or why NASA could overlook such a thing… since NASA's mission is to find life on other planets and moons,” Waring said.

He noted that the structure resembling a mushroom appears to be anchored in the Martian surface and growing.

NASA should have poked it, bumped it, knocked it over, cut it open with the tools on the Curiosity rover—or at least used that million-dollar laser they burn rocks and dirt with,” he added.

Although scientists remain cautious, the photo has fueled debate among enthusiasts and researchers alike about the possibility of life on Mars.
