A remarkable trend has emerged this week as thousands of believers want to pay their last respects to Pope Francis in Rome.

An unending stream of people bids farewell to the church leader in the St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Last night, the basilica even stayed open longer with continuous visits taking place to avoid disappointing the faithful present.

However, some among them apparently can't resist taking a selfie with the deceased pope, often using a selfie stick. We read “particularly gruesome” and “disrespectful” beneath these remarkable posts on social media.

“This displays poor taste”, says the 53-year-old Janine Venables to a reporter from the Daily Mail. “I am surprised that people are taking selfies with the coffin and not being stopped”, she adds.
