Lithuania warns: Russians are preparing "something terrible for Easter"

The Russian strike on the Ukrainian city of Sumy is nothing compared to what could happen at Easter.

While Putin's armed forces didn't hesitate to send two Iskander missiles on Palm Sunday, killing 35 people, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys warns: the Kremlin will strike even harder. "This week is Holy Week, we're approaching Easter. I have no doubt that Russia has something even more terrible in store for us at Easter," he told the LRT media.

For its part, the news agency RBC-Ukraine writes: "After the terrorist attack in Sumy on Palm Sunday, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister stressed that this may only be the beginning of even more terrible attacks from the Kremlin, especially at Easter."

Strengthening sanctions

The Lithuanian minister is in favour of strengthening sanctions against Moscow. In his speech, he also highlighted that Lithuania is currently working on developing a new list of sanctions, which will be proposed to the European Union in the near future. "If we don't open negotiation chapters with Ukraine this semester, if we fail on sanctions, then we can no longer talk about any geopolitical subjectivity of the EU, we can no longer claim to have any influence in the world."
