Leo XIV: his special connection with a famous French footballer

The website Geneanet, the European leader in genealogy, has just revealed the family origins of the new Pope Leo XIV.

Geneanet conducted the investigation. The Supreme Pontiff, Robert Francis Prévost, although of American origin, has numerous French ancestors. As reported by the media outlet Demotivateur, his closest French cousin identified is Jean de Lattre de Tassigny. The latter was a general officer in the French Army during the Second World War. The military man is related to Leo XIV from the 8th to the 7th generation.

The new Pope is also connected to the author of "Cyrano de Bergerac", Edmond Rostand, from the 12th to the 11th generation, as well as to the famous (former) footballer... Eric Cantona, from the 12th to the 15th generation.
