Latvia’s intelligence services have uncovered evidence suggesting that Russia is preparing for a potential conflict with NATO.

According to reports, Finland, Norway, and Latvia could be among the next targets of Russian aggression, as Moscow increases its monitoring of NATO military activities in the Baltic Sea region.

Russia has recently engaged in actions described as intimidation tactics, likely designed to gauge the response of NATO member states. Military reorganizations have also been observed along Russia’s border with Latvia.

These developments appear to be a direct response to Finland and Sweden joining NATO in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

The Wall Street Journal reported last week that Russia has deployed additional troops near its borders with Finland and Norway.

Latvia, however, has not observed any major training exercises near its own border, which some analysts interpret as a sign that Moscow may be avoiding opening another front—for now.
