It is the American media The Atlantic that alerts about the effects of ketamine, a psychoactive substance consumed by Trump's right-hand man.

Elon Musk reportedly uses ketamine to combat depression, preferring it significantly over “more commonly prescribed antidepressants that zombify patients”, according to his own terms.

In 2024, the world's richest man revealed he had received a medical prescription allowing him access to ketamine, a drug not without side effects. Following this revelation, numerous messages flooded Musk's social network, X (formerly Twitter), linking his drug use to his reckless behaviour. It indeed explains his recent behavioural lapses, highlights The Atlantic.

Many have indeed pointed to ketamine when the CEO of Tesla took to the stage at the annual American Conservative conference wielding a chainsaw. Additionally, he made incoherent statements and mispronounced certain words, notes the media Linternaute. And now that Musk is at the helm of the Department of Government Efficiency, tasked with reducing federal spending and reshaping the administration, his mental health is increasingly concerning to the American public.

Delusional ideas

The media The Atlantic highlights the side effects of ketamine. It describes the substance as "dissociative because during the euphoria phase it induces, which lasts about an hour, users may feel detached from their body, emotions, or time". Moreover, significant consumption of ketamine can lead to delusional ideas, memory disorders, superstitions, and might give the person taking it the feeling of being "special" and "important".

And The Atlantic tempers its statement by indicating that ketamine might not be behind all the bizarre behaviours and actions of the billionaire. His very short nights, for which he frequently boasts, could also influence his statements and underscore his inconsistencies.
