Kim Kardashian has decided to testify in person on 13 May in Paris. The trial is set to begin on Monday against nine men and one woman who stole her jewellery worth no less than 9 million euros.

The robbery took place in the early morning of 3 October 2016 at the Hôtel de Pourtalès in Paris. The robbers disguised themselves as police officers, deceived the night watchman, and gained entry to the hotel. They rushed to the luxury suite where Kim Kardashian was sleeping alone at the time. Her bodyguard was accompanying her sister Kourtney Kardashian, who had gone out in the Paris nightlife after a day full of fashion shows.

The robbers entered her room and pointed a gun at the American superstar. They tied her up at the hands and feet on the bed. The robbers intended to steal Kim Kardashian's expensive jewellery collection. They wanted the Cartier bracelets, the gold rings and necklaces, the Rolex, but especially the large 18.88-carat diamond engagement ring. Since Kardashian had flaunted them several times on social media that day, the robbers knew she had those expensive jewels with her in Paris. Additionally, she had written on Snapchat that she was left all alone at the hotel because the rest of the group had gone out. Enough information for the robbers to spring into action.

The perpetrators found the jewellery and eventually fled on bicycles. However, one of them fell and lost a piece of jewellery. It is suspected that the perpetrators headed towards Belgium with Kardashian's jewellery. The investigators on the case travelled to Antwerp several times as they suspected the gold was being melted down there.

And the perpetrators, they turn out to be unusually old. Five of the suspects, all aged between 60 and 72 at the time of the robbery nine years ago, will be facing trial from Monday in Paris for armed robbery and kidnapping. The other defendants are charged with complicity in the robbery or possession of a prohibited weapon.
