Laeticia Hallyday has just lost an important legal battle. The French tax authorities are demanding 7.7 million euros from her.

Since Johnny Hallyday passed away, Laeticia has faced quite a few legal battles. And while the famous French singer left her an exceptional estate, he also left her his debts. Laeticia thus inherited, among other things, a tax claim of 7.7 million euros, which the French tax office is now demanding from her.

According to information from the newspaper L’Informé, the mother of Jade and Joy attempted to negotiate a reduction of the debt: "She has entered into discussions with the tax authorities to get a discount. Initially, she proposes to immediately pay 1.9 million euros for settlement of all accounts, hoping that Bercy will write off the remaining 9 million... A proposal immediately rejected by the administration."

Farewell to late penalties

In 2022, Laeticia Hallyday managed to obtain the cancellation of late penalties, which amounted to nearly 3 million euros, according to the Belgian media outlet RTBF. In return, she committed to paying the main amount owed to the French administration and not to contest the decision further. And, despite this agreement, the former model still decided to appeal... The administrative court didn't budge: since she isn't "in poverty," she is therefore in a position to pay the 7.7 million euros.

Today, she has two options: either pay this amount or, once again, appeal the decision.
