In an interview with the BBC, Prince Harry made rare comments about his current relationships with the royal family, notably with his father. Comments that haven't failed to elicit a reaction from Buckingham Palace.

The Duke of Sussex told the BBC that he does not consider returning to the UK. It is “impossible” for him to return to the palace with his wife Meghan Markle and his children, Archie and Lilibet, because of the loss of his police protection in the country, according to the magazine Gala. Indeed, the English courts confirmed this decision on Friday 2nd May. Since he is no longer part of the Firm, Harry can no longer enjoy this privilege. Disappointed, he stressed that the king refused to speak to him “because of his security issues”.

Life is too precious

Saddened by the situation, Prince Harry is concerned about his father's health. “I don't know how long my father has left”, he added. He realises, however, that his docuseries Harry & Meghan and also his book Spare have hurt the royal family. And concluded: “I would very much like to reconcile with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight, life is precious”.

Buckingham Palace's reaction was not long in coming. According to royal sources speaking to Mirror, it would have been “constitutionally inappropriate for His Majesty to intervene while this matter was being considered by the government and reviewed by the courts”, referring to Charles III's silence. Does it seem the king does not entirely close the door to reconciliation?
