On 10 February, Pyongyang fired several ballistic missiles off its western coast. These were the first launches since Donald Trump returned to power.
This was reported by the South Korean army. These ballistic tests took place as South Korea and the United States began joint exercises spanning about ten days.
As reported by the media The Independent, North Korea's official press strongly criticised the joint military manoeuvres by Seoul and Washington, which the two allies plan annually.
Furthermore, the North Korean authorities, very angry, threatened the two countries by stressing that they would pay a "terrible" price for committing this "act of provocation".
