Russia has succeeded in influencing certain people in Donald Trump's team, declares President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Time.
According to Mr. Zelensky, after the intelligence exchange was suspended, Vladimir Putin told Mr. Trump that Ukrainian soldiers had been encircled in the Kursk region by Russian soldiers. This was a lie, but the American president continued to amplify it.
The Ukrainian president added that American officials began to take Putin at his word, even when their own intelligence contradicted the statements of the Kremlin leader.
"I think that Russia managed to influence some people in the White House team through information. The signal they sent to the Americans was that the Ukrainians didn't want to end the war and that something had to be done to force them to," declared Mr. Zelensky.
