Is it possible to get stuck from squinting too long, and deliberately? The answer is no.

This idea, often proposed to scare children and prevent them from making ugly faces, is a myth. In fact, according to RTBF, the motor muscles (responsible for eye movements) naturally restore the eyes to their initial position once relaxed.

However, be cautious: excessive and prolonged squinting can cause headaches and temporary eye strain.

Furthermore, if you notice that your child squints too frequently or involuntarily, it's advisable to consult a healthcare professional. An underlying issue such as muscle paralysis or strabismus may be identified.
