Nearly 30 documents containing reports from commercial pilots have been published by the National Archives of Brazil.

The aviators explain that they observed several strange phenomena in the sky over the southern part of the country, particularly above the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.

In April 2024, one of the pilots claimed to have seen a stationary UFO while preparing his landing in Porto Alegre, reports the media Linfo.re. According to his observations, the object changed colours, appearing sometimes white, sometimes orange. Still according to the pilot, he claims to have seen it 4 times over the same week. In January of the same year, on the night of the 21st precisely, another aviator reported having seen 4 or 5 objects with flashing white lights. He emphasises that these objects could not have been satellites or space vehicles. In February 2023, a third pilot claimed to have seen a “ball” moving across the sky at a speed “ten times faster than that of a commercial aircraft”. As far back as 2014, there had already been somewhat similar accounts, including one from a pilot who had to perform an “evasive maneuver” when approaching a bright UFO.

According to the NASA, which takes this matter seriously, these are “events in the sky that cannot be scientifically identified as an aircraft or known natural phenomenon”. And, according to astrophysicist David Spergel, some of these observations are perfectly explainable. They turn out to be, most of the time, drones, planes, balloons, weather phenomena… However, in some cases, no logical explanation could be provided.
