Last summer, the French company Eos unveiled its new combat weapon: the Veloce 330 suicide drone. Ultra-fast, the device can destroy a tank at 100km.
Speed? Between 400 and 500km/h. The suicide drone was developed based on real-world conditions in Ukraine. Thanks to its onboard technologies, particularly a 7kg explosive charge designed by KNDS France, the Veloce 330 (with a wingspan of 3.3m) is capable of destroying a heavy armoured vehicle at 100km. This combat weapon was unveiled last June and tested at a trial site in Auvergne, near Clermont-Ferrand (central France), which has already won over the French military ecosystem.
Jean-Marc Zuliani, CEO of Eos Technologie, even guarantees that “its speed and low-altitude flight profile make it nearly impossible to intercept”, reports the French magazine Challenges. “When you hear it, it's already too late.”
The drone should be operational in 2025. The French Army won't benefit from it until 2028. In the meantime, the device could well be tested in real combat on Ukrainian battlefields by the country's armed forces, notes Futura-Sciences.
