In 2026, 35 artists selected among more than 300 candidates will be able to see their star engraved on the very famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. But how did they achieve this consecration?
Miley Cyrus, Marion Cotillard, Timothée Chalamet, Demi Moore, Rachel McAdams, and others have all embarked on a meticulous process to obtain their famous star in 2026.
To enter the competition, applicants must first submit an application to the Walk of Fame committee, including a short biography, a photo, a list of awards, major accomplishments, and their philanthropic activities. And that's not all, as a letter of consent stating that the celebrity agrees to have their name engraved on the famous Hollywood sidewalk must also be submitted, according to RTBF.
The "most qualified" candidates, following a review by the Walk of Fame committee members, will receive their star the following year. Those who are not selected will have the opportunity to apply again during future nomination campaigns. They may wait years to receive their star (or it may never happen at all).
A Star with a Price
To evaluate the application, the jury uses various criteria: a professional career of at least five years, achievements, contributions to the community, as well as the assurance that the candidate will be present on the day of the inauguration. After the committee, the application must then be approved by the Board of Directors of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works.
One last point: the installation of the star costs €27,000, an amount that the celebrity will have to pay for themselves.
