Film producer Harvey Weinstein has spoken out in his own defence from prison. This time, he has denied the sexual harassment allegations made by actresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Rose McGowan in 2017.

This was the first filmed interview conducted by conservative podcaster Candace Owens since his arrest seven years ago.

Regarding the accusations, Harvey Weinstein stated: "They are false." He went on to say that he was "wrongly convicted" in 2020 in New York and in 2022 in Los Angeles, and described his actions as "mistakes". "I hurt my family and friends. I cheated on my wife and that was a terrible mistake. But I did not commit these crimes".

Weinstein called Gwyneth Paltrow's statements a "complete fabrication", after she claimed in 2017 that he had invited her to his hotel room, placed his hands on her, and offered her a massage after she had auditioned for the film Emma. He clarified that he had "made advances" to the actress, but insisted he had "not touched her".

To recap, in February 2020, Weinstein was found guilty in New York and sentenced to 23 years in prison. However, in 2024, his rape conviction was overturned and a retrial was set to start in April 2025. He was also indicted in California. His legal troubles have significantly affected his legacy, and he was expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2017.

Weinstein's health has deteriorated in recent years; in 2024, he underwent emergency heart surgery while in custody.

Harvey Weinstein's actions triggered a worldwide movement against gender-based and sexual violence.
