The German Interior Ministry has requested that schoolchildren and students be prepared for crises and war. It proposes to introduce appropriate training, reports media outlet Handelsblatt.
According to the media, a Russian attack on NATO territory is considered a realistic scenario, which is why the Interior Ministry advises citizens to stock up on essential goods.
"In view of recent events in the security domain, greater attention should be paid to civil defence, including in school education," said a representative of the ministry in an interview.
Roderich Kiesewetter, a security policy expert, suggests organising crisis training for schoolchildren so they can practise acting in emergency situations.
"It's also necessary to introduce basic training on how to behave in an emergency."
The risk of a direct military conflict between NATO and Russia remains a serious geopolitical threat, as Russia is waging a large-scale war against Ukraine.
