Germany has announced it will not deliver Taurus missiles to Ukraine, despite repeated requests from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Before becoming Chancellor, Friedrich Merz had pledged to provide Ukraine with the long-range missiles—capable of striking targets deep inside Russia—but that promise will not be kept, according to German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

When asked about the matter during a visit to Kyiv, Pistorius said bluntly: "You ask me if we’re considering it, and my answer is no."

However, Pistorius confirmed that Germany plans to send an additional €1.9 billion in aid to Ukraine.

We’re planning [to provide] an extra €1.9 billion. In total, Germany will support Ukraine with around €9 billion this year,” he told reporters.

At the upcoming G7 summit, which begins this Sunday, Zelenskyy is expected to press President Donald Trump to impose new economic sanctions aimed at forcing Russia to back down.
