France is joining Ukraine war effort

France is set to assist Ukraine in producing drones to help Kyiv keep up with the growing pace of Russia's military operations.

According to a report by Franceinfo published on Sunday, automaker Renault has partnered with a French defense SME to manufacture a large number of drones intended for the Ukrainian army.

French Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu confirmed on the TV channel LCI that the French army will also make use of these drones.

Renault confirmed the news to Le Figaro but clarified that no formal agreement has been signed yet.

“Discussions have taken place. No decision has been made at this stage, as we are still waiting for further details from the ministry,” said the company, in which the French state holds a 15% stake.

Several months ago, the French government had announced its intention to mass-produce military equipment, including drones.

This move comes as Kyiv rapidly increases its own drone production, aiming to carry out more long-range attacks on Russian territory.
