Four countries targeted by Moscow in the event of war escalation

A few weeks ago, the head of Russia’s foreign intelligence service, Sergei Naryshkin, threatened Poland and the Baltic States with military retaliation should the war in Ukraine spiral out of control.

The head of Russia’s foreign intelligence service is directly threatening Poland and the Baltic States with military retaliation if the Ukraine war gets out of hand. "They should understand – though they don’t yet – that in the event of aggression by the North Atlantic Alliance against Russia and Belarus, the whole NATO bloc will, of course, suffer. But those who will bear the brunt, to a large extent, are the champions of the kind of ideas found in political circles in Poland and the Baltic States," he said.

In an interview with Russian state news agency TASS, Russia’s spy chief stated that Russia and Belarus are ready to respond to any possible "European escalation" stemming from the war in Ukraine.

According to Sergei Naryshkin, the Baltic States and Poland have shown what he calls "great aggression" towards Russia, accusing the four countries of "constantly rattling their sabres".
