European officials are skeptical about the proposed 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine, fearing it may only hold for 30 minutes before being violated.

This week, Ukraine agreed to the ceasefire proposal, which now awaits Russia’s response. However, several European diplomats believe that Moscow will try to secure the best possible terms before breaking the agreement.

A Lithuanian official, whose country could be a potential target for Vladimir Putin, said:
"What for us, Ukraine, or the U.S. is 30 days could be just 30 minutes for Russia."

"There are a lot of examples of this," added the official, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

Sir Alex Young, former head of MI6, argued that the Russian president might agree to a 30-day ceasefire only to "try his luck" with extreme demands, making the establishment of lasting peace even more difficult.
