Eric Trump has suggested he might run for president once his father, Donald Trump, completes a potential second term in 2029.

The 41-year-old businessman, who serves as executive vice president of the Trump Organization, said following in his father’s political footsteps would be a straightforward path—if he chose to pursue it.

The real question is: ‘Do you want to drag other members of your family into it?… Would I want my kids to live the same experience over the last decade that I’ve lived?’” he told the Financial Times.

If the answer was yes, I think the political path would be an easy one. I think I could do it. And by the way, I think other members of our family could do it too,” he added.

Unlike his brother Donald Trump Jr. and sister Ivanka Trump, Eric has largely stayed out of politics, focusing instead on running the family business. But he now appears to be reconsidering, especially as his father would be constitutionally barred from running again after 2029.

He also expressed skepticism about the current political class, saying he wasn’t impressed by most politicians and believed he could handle the role effectively.

I don’t know… Time will tell. But there are more people than just me. The question is, do you want to do it? And do you want to subject the people you love to the brutality of this system? I’m not sure I can answer that yet,” he said.
