Did they fall from the site or were they pushed?

There has been indignation that the Irish American punk band Dropkick Murphys had been kicked off Twitter, now X, because of their comments about Trump and Elon Musk. But it didn’t really happen like that, according to the band. Did they fall or were they pushed? They opted for the fall version.

“We broke up with him first," singer Ken Casey told Variety, debunking rumors that Musk suspended their account. They actually quit Twitter already in 2022 when Musk was "only half a Nazi." As someone else took their handle, they then filed a legal complaint, which led to the @dropkickmurphys account showing up as suspended – and people jumped to conclusions.

Casey added, "We pulled our account because we didn’t want to be part of that guy’s empire." Dropkick Murphys are still active on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

Maga fans were “good sports”

On the MeidasTouch Podcast March 17, Casey shared a video of them engaging with MAGA fans at a concert, challenging them to see where their gear was actually made. The fans were "good sports," he said.

Speaking with MeidasTouch, Casey said Dropkick Murphys have always been pro-working class, pro-union. Their fanbase supported them, but some were tricked into thinking Trump cared about them. Casey added, "We haven't changed our message since 1996. Unfortunately, many have been misled."

He concluded, “Trump is the exact opposite of everything we sing about. He's turned on his friends, his allies, he's a rat and a coward."

The Dropkick Murphys have concerts in the US from July through to the end of the year.
