Trump remains firm on military intervention in Greenland: ‘I don’t rule it out’

Donald Trump has said he does not rule out the possibility of military action to take control of Greenland, a territory currently under Danish sovereignty.

Since returning to the White House, the U.S. president has repeatedly emphasized his desire to expand American territory, particularly pointing to the strategic importance of the Arctic region, where a U.S. military base is already located.

In an interview with NBC, Trump was asked directly about the idea of using military force to seize Greenland. He responded: “I don’t rule it out. I don’t say I’m going to do it, but I don’t rule out anything. No, not there. We need Greenland very badly. Greenland is a very small amount of people, which we’ll take care of, and we’ll cherish them, and all of that. But we need that for international security.”

During the same interview, Trump also commented on speculation about Canada potentially joining the United States, an idea he quickly dismissed following the recent election of Mark Carney as Canada's new prime minister.

“It’s highly unlikely. I don’t see it with Canada. I just don’t see it, I have to be honest with you,” he said.
