Trump admits one big mistake

Donald Trump has acknowledged that there may be "transition problems" after he officially implemented a 90-day pause in his trade war.

The U.S. president opted to cap tariffs at 10% for most countries during this period, while simultaneously escalating tariffs against China, now set at 125%.

Despite this tariff escalation, Trump expressed openness to negotiations with Beijing in hopes of reaching an agreement that would benefit both nations.

"A big day yesterday. There will always be transition difficulty – but in history, it was the biggest day ever for the markets. So we’re very, very happy with the way the country is running. We’re trying to get the world to treat us fairly," Trump said from the Cabinet Room.

"We think we’re in very good shape. We think we’re doing very well. Again, there’ll be a transition cost and transition problems, but in the end, it’s going to be a beautiful thing," he added.

The president also praised his Cabinet members for their work on negotiations with the countries affected by the new tariffs.
