DOGE's radical solution: Administratively killing migrants

American media reports that Elon Musk's DOGE commission has found a solution to drive away undocumented migrants labelled as "criminals" or "suspected terrorists": declare them dead.

6300 migrants have been transferred to the United States Social Security's deceased persons database. In practice, this effectively excludes them from society since without a social security number, a sort of identity document: no bank, no work, no housing, no government services, and – of course – no access to subsidies and social assistance. The solution comes in to force them to flee the United States. This radical method was implemented by DOGE, the famous commission for government efficiency controlled by Elon Musk.

Selective Sorting

The New York Times, which obtained documents, indicates that the undocumented migrants targeted by the shift to the "death register" were listed as "convicted criminals" or "suspected terrorists". However, there's a legitimate fear to imagine that this solution of administrative death could be used on other categories of immigrants. A suspicion shared by both the New York Times and the Washington Post, which also reported the information.
