"Come… but leave quickly": Vance's frightening warning before the World Cup 2026

Donald Trump has his own border policies. Nonetheless, he assured that fans from all corners of the world were welcome at the 2026 Football World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Earlier this week, the American President, leading the task force for the organisation of the World Cup 2026, promised that all visitors to the tournament would have a "smooth" experience. "We look forward to welcoming football fans from around the world," he stated during a conference at the White House, alongside Fifa President Gianni Infantino.

And added: "Every government member will work to ensure that these events are successful and safe, and that people travelling to the United States for the competition have a seamless experience throughout their visit." In 2025, entries of foreign travellers to the American soil are expected to decline by 5.1% compared to 2024, instead of a previously anticipated rise of 8.8%, according to findings from a report published by Tourism Economics in late February.

Beware of "Ice Barbie"

According to Tourism Economics, "The polarisation caused by Trump’s politics and rhetoric (...) will discourage travel to the United States". Meanwhile, American Vice President JD Vance emphasised that while fans were welcome, they should leave the country quickly. "I know we will have visitors, from probably close to 100 countries. We want people to come, celebrate, and enjoy the matches. But once the time is over, go back home; otherwise, you'll have to talk to Secretary Noem," he stated. Kristin Noem is the Secretary of Homeland Security under Trump, known for her uncompromising nature, hence her nickname: Ice Barbie.
