Ceasefire, agreement, meeting with Putin: even Donald Trump doesn't believe anymore

The conditions set by Moscow to end the conflict are, for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, unacceptable 'ultimatums'.

Peace negotiations are once again at a standstill. As a result, Zelensky wishes to organise a meeting with Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin at “any time”. He also believes that continuing the Istanbul talks in their current format would make “no sense”, given that two previous rounds have failed to produce conclusive results, as reported by 20 Minutes.

On Monday, during a second meeting under Turkish mediation, the Russian delegation put forward a list of conditions for a ceasefire, including, among others, the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the regions Russia claims to have annexed, limiting the size of its army, as well as foregoing joining the military alliance NATO.

The call with Putin

For his part, the American president stated he had held a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, notably to discuss Ukraine. In a message on Truth Social, he mentioned he had a “good conversation, but not a conversation that will bring about immediate peace” in Ukraine with Putin.
