Emma Heming Willis has shared an update about her husband on social media for Father’s Day.
The actor’s wife also wanted to highlight the pain that can be felt by those close to someone who is ill, as Bruce Willis has had frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and aphasia since 2022.
Everyday life brings many challenges, and the pain never really fades. To mark Father’s Day, Emma Heming Willis posted a message alongside a photo of the actor, full of dignity and love, addressed to her husband. Without going into medical details, she stresses how much Bruce Willis continues to bring joy to their family. Here is what she wrote:
A Few Words of Love
“Happy Father’s Day to all the dads living with a disability or illness, who show up as best as they can, and to the children who are there for them. What Bruce teaches our daughters goes far beyond words. Resilience, unconditional love and the quiet strength of simply being present. This photo says it all. Love grows deeper. It adapts. It endures, even when everything else changes. But to be honest with myself, these symbolic days are really hard for me. I’m deeply sad today. With every cell in my body, I wish things were different for him and lighter for our family. As they say in our FTD community (frontotemporal dementia), ‘it is what it is’. And even though it might sound arrogant, it doesn’t feel that way to me. It helps me to refocus. It helps me to accept and not keep fighting every step as I used to. Today, let’s celebrate the tough dads, those who are here and those we carry within us ???? Onward.”
