Michel Moers, the famous unknown of the Telex band, celebrates his 78th birthday. Still as unconventional as ever, his second solo album "As is" is still waiting for you.
With tracks that have become legendary like "Moskow Diskow" or the cover of "Twist in Saint-Tropez" by the Chats Sauvages, the Brussels trio Telex established itself, as early as 1978, as the missing link between the German school (Kraftwerk notably) and a form of disco that is both humorous and irreverent. In a snub, the group even agreed to represent Belgium in the Eurovision contest with a double entendre-titled track simply called "Euro-Vision"! After the death of Marc Moulin in 2008, the group signed its musical testament with a compilation entitled "Ultimate".
Also a photographer, Michel Moers takes his time to realise his personal musical projects. Since his first solo album "Fishing Le Kiss", released on the Crammed label in 1990, it took him nearly 33 years to offer us the second "As Is" released on 19 April 2024 on Freaksville Records. He collaborates with the likes of Claudia Brücken (Propaganda) on "Microwaves" and the Belgian singer Daan on "Back To Then". The album even starts with a sarcastic confession: "People are appalling," (which already appeared on his first album) that Spotify labels with an "E" for "Explicit". One wonders why indeed, as it's true, "people are appalling (and) disturbing".
