He was born in New York in 1964. He remains true to the funk rock that made him famous – and to his dreadlocks…
Lenny Kravitz has always paid great attention to his style, taking care of his dreadlocks as meticulously as his small round sunglasses. In recent years, he has also spoken freely about his philosophy of life, which includes morning cardio exercises and vegan food. PETA even included him in its list of Most Beautiful Vegan Celebrities in 2022! And in 2024, he was inducted into the prestigious Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame…
He has sometimes been compared to Jimi Hendrix, and indeed, his music draws on a variety of influences: psychedelic rock, blues, funk, and rhythm and blues. Always with that incisive guitar he sometimes loves to torment in long solos. “I’ve always lived between two worlds. They said I was too white for Black people, too Black for white people. Ultimately, I’m just me,” he told us on the release of his first album.
Since 1989, he has released twelve albums, among which "Let Love Rule" (1989), "Mama Said" (1991), "Are You Gonna Go My Way" (1993), and "Is It Time For A Love Revolution" (2008) stand out.
Lenny has passions beyond music. He collaborates with the high-end German camera brand Leica. In 2003, he also founded Kravitz Design, which contributed to the creation of Setai Resorts in Miami Beach and Paris, among others. He also collaborated with the brand Absolut Vodka in 2006 – to be enjoyed in moderation! While music is now only one of his many pursuits, it returned to centre stage in 2024 with the release of his twelfth album, "Blue Electric Light." Recorded in his own studio in the Bahamas, he plays almost every instrument on it. “I'm always searching for authenticity. I live simply. I plant my vegetables, I pray, I play. Fame has never blinded me,” he recently told "Vanity Fair." And you almost want to believe him…
