Over the years, the number of muscle fibers in our bodies decreases. Additionally, factors such as lack of exercise can accelerate this loss of strength.

The good news is that we can do something ourselves to prevent muscle strength from decreasing too quickly, and we can even build muscle strength through strength training.

Sleep Problems

A new study from the Faculty of Medicine at Mahidol University in Bangkok shows that older people who lift weights combat insomnia better than with another form of exercise.

This most recent study, published in the Family Medicine and Community Health Journal, compared different types of exercise popular among older adults.

Brisk walking, cycling, and dancing were found to have a positive effect, but to a lesser extent than strength training. The study analysed various forms of training, including aerobic exercises, flexibility exercises, and resistance training with weights or resistance machines. The results show that strength training promotes sleep quality more strongly.
