Belgian tourist stabbed amid celebrations during Napoli’s title party

A Belgian was stabbed on Friday in the Italian city of Naples during the title celebrations of football club Napoli. The 27-year-old Belgian tourist suffered several stab wounds amid the festivitities.

On Friday evening, exuberant celebrations broke out in Naples after Napoli, with Belgian Romelu Lukaku and Scotsman Scott McTominay, secured the 'scudetto', the Italian championship title, following their victory against Cagliari on the final matchday.

The festivities were not all entirely harmless: about fifteen incidents of knife attacks were reported. One such incident involved a 27-year-old Belgian, who was stabbed in his upper left leg by two individuals on a scooter. After receiving treatment, he was able to leave the hospital.

In total, 39 people were injured during the night of celebrations. For most of them, the injuries were due to fireworks and pyrotechnic materials.
