NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte spoke to US President Donald Trump on Thursday evening about the war in Ukraine.
The Dutch politician emphasized afterwards in the Dutch press that "the ball is now clearly in the Russians' court" regarding negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. In the name of NATO, Rutte also spoke with US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz. Rutte reports having had a "good meeting" with Trump and stresses that the United States is still committed to the NATO alliance.
