At least 34 dead after tourist boat capsizes in Vietnam

At least 34 people have died and several others remain missing after a tourist boat capsized in Vietnam.

The vessel, which was carrying 53 passengers, is believed to have overturned due to severe weather conditions in Ha Long Bay, located in the north of the country.

The incident occurred as Tropical Storm Wipha approached the Vietnamese coast, bringing with it strong winds, torrential rain, and thunderstorms.

No information has yet been released regarding the nationalities of the victims, as rescue teams continue their search efforts.

Among the survivors was a 14-year-old boy who was rescued after spending four hours trapped beneath the boat’s hull.

Tropical Storm Wipha is expected to make landfall in northern Vietnam early next week.
