A nine-year-old boy from Zeeland (the Netherlands) is also believed to have become seriously ill after eating sweets of the Haribo brand. Some of the sweets are said to have contained cannabis.

The NVWA (Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority) issued a warning about a batch of Haribo sweets after a toddler, a young child, and an adult from the same family in Twente fell ill. One of them was even in a coma for a period. Now, the mother of a nine-year-old boy claims that her child also became ill from the Haribo sweets. The boy from Vlissingen in the Netherlands reportedly became seriously ill on Friday, 23 May. He started vomiting, crying, and developed abdominal and headaches. The child was rushed to the hospital in Goes. He slipped into a coma and woke up again after three days. Traces of cannabis were found in his urine as well. The NVWA is investigating the case, and Haribo initiated a preventive recall following the first reports.
