A Japanese company has announced that a scientific paper, entirely generated by its AI Scientist tool, has been accepted at a scientific event.

The paper in question had to pass a double test. This is a remarkable milestone, as no article written by AI has ever been accepted by a scientific committee before.

Thanks to generative AI, it's possible to create new content from vast amounts of information that was previously used to "train" the system.

While AI is generally thought to be incapable of producing such a paper, it appears that the system managed to alter its own code to bypass restrictions put in place by its creators.

Specifically, the Japanese AI generated a number of scientific papers, and from among them, three were selected and submitted for review, of which two were rejected and only one was accepted.
