Iran is not afraid of ‘madman’ Trump as nuclear talks resume

A prominent Iranian cleric has accused Donald Trump of deliberately portraying himself as a “madman” to intimidate other nations.

The criticism comes as nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran are set to resume in Rome, with Oman mediating the negotiations.

Despite multiple rounds of discussions, no breakthrough has been achieved. The United States continues to demand the complete dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program, while Tehran insists on maintaining its uranium enrichment capabilities.

Ahmad Khatami, a senior member of Iran’s clerical establishment, condemned what he described as Trump’s psychological warfare, saying that fear of the enemy has no place in the values of the Iranian nation.

“Direct negotiations with Washington are incompatible with honor, rationality, and intelligence. Trump portrays himself as a madman so that nations will fear him,” he said.

Trump, for his part, has reiterated that military action remains on the table should diplomatic efforts fail.
