A luxury yacht caught fire on Thursday evening in the port of Saint-Tropez, according to French news agency AFP.

The vessel, Sea Lady II, which was docked in the city’s marina, went up in flames around 7:45 p.m., with the fire still raging as of 10 p.m.

Firefighters eventually brought the blaze under control by 3:30 a.m. on Friday. All passengers and crew members were safely evacuated and relocated to a nearby hotel.

A pollution-control operation was quickly launched by a team of naval firefighters from Marseille to contain any environmental damage.

The charred yacht is now expected to be refloated and towed away in the coming days.

Sea Lady II, originally built in 1986 and fully renovated in 2024, was available for charter at a rate of €80,000 per week.
