‘We’re in pretty big trouble’: Russia is at war with the UK

A former White House adviser has claimed that Russia is at war with the United Kingdom and that the United States can no longer be considered a dependable ally.

Fiona Hill, who was born in County Durham, served as a top Russia adviser on the National Security Council during Donald Trump’s first term, and previously contributed to UK government strategy as well.

“We’re in pretty big trouble,” she told The Guardian, explaining that the UK is caught between “the rock” of Vladimir Putin and the unpredictability of Trump.

“Russia has hardened as an adversary in ways that we probably hadn’t fully anticipated,” Hill added.

Russia has targeted the UK for years through cyberattacks, assassinations, and acts of sabotage, she warned, saying bluntly: “Russia is at war with us.”

Hill also stressed that the UK should not hide behind American military might within NATO, especially as Prime Minister Keir Starmer recently unveiled a plan to strengthen British defense.
