A castle on a Scottish island has been put back up for sale by the government after a previous deal collapsed due to a dispute between a millionaire businessman and a Scottish government minister.

Kinloch Castle, located on the Isle of Rùm, is owned by the government agency NatureScot, which manages much of the island.

The property is listed at £750,000, though its state of disrepair means it requires significant restoration work.

Two years ago, businessman Jeremy Hosking pulled out of purchasing the property following intervention by Lorna Slater, who was then Minister for Biodiversity.

Slater halted the sale process after concerns were raised by the Isle of Rum Community Trust.

The Isle of Rùm, situated south of the Isle of Skye, has a population of around 40 residents.
