A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck Iran near a nuclear enrichment facility located in the Qom region.

The tremor occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers and was recorded at approximately 9:19 p.m. local time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The sudden quake has sparked speculation that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps might have been conducting tests, although no official information has been released to support that theory.

Local media reported on the earthquake but made no mention of any possible nuclear weapons testing. While no damage has been reported, the tremors were felt as far away as the capital, Tehran, which lies along several fault lines.

As of now, Iran has reiterated that it remains unwilling to negotiate with the United States unless Tel Aviv halts its attacks on Iranian territory.
